1. Make sure spelling of search terms is correct. The search engine will attempt to find words that sound similar to your search terms, but results will be better if spelling is correct.
   
   
2. Use multiple words to return more refined results than from a single word. Possibly relevant results are returned even if they don't contain all query terms.
   Example: water conservation
   
   
3. Use similar words. The more similar words you use, the more relevant the results.
   
   Example: ancient old-growth forest
   
   
4. Use appropriate capitalization. Capitalize proper nouns. Lowercase words will match any case. For example, typing "native" will return all documents containing the words native, Native, and NATIVE. However, typing "Native" will only search for pages with "Native".
   Example: Native American
   
   
5. Use quotation marks to find words which must appear adjacent to each other and in that order. Otherwise, the search results will include the words found anywhere, and in any order, within the document.
   
   Example: "water conservation"
